Charles Hamilton, Count of Arran (30 March 1691 – 13 August 1754) was a noble of Scottish descent. He was born in London as the natural son of James Hamilton, later 4th Duke of Hamilton, and Lady Barbara FitzRoy, a daughter of Charles II of England. Raised in France, he was known as Comte dArran and married Antoinette Courteney, with whom he had one son. Hamilton spent much of his life between France and Switzerland, pursued alchemy, challenged his fathers supposed killer, and authored a historical work later published by his son.
