Utrecht, G.T. van Paddenburg, 1795, 8vo., sewn book block without binding, 8 + 580 pp. The front and back cover are lost. It seems to have been a plain paper binding. Remnants of the covering paper are visible on the spine. The top right corner of the first 14 pages has been gnawed on. On the titlepage this results in the loss of some letters of the first word, on the other pages there is no loss of text. The sewing of the book block is mostly intact. Uncut pages. This book was meant to have been bound to the taste of the buyer, but that never happened. The book has been used lovingly, as is made clear by the corrections, interesting notes in the margins, dried leaves and manuscipts (including two garden designs) inserted between pages 242-243, 498-499, and 516-517.
The book lists trees and shrubs (heesters) in alphabetical order, stating their names in Latin, English, French, German and Dutch. Further information about the trees or shrubs is offered in Dutch. Based on the work by Rössig.
