Parijs [= Hoorn, I. Willemszoon van der Beeck?], [ca. 1622/1623], 4°, 16+287 pp., geheel perkament uit de tijd. Ter Meulen & Diermanse 877. Rogge 96; Knuttel, Verboden boeken, 160. Full contemporary vellum, this edition is neither the first nor the second edition. The title bears no year, the number of pp. is similar to the second edition. Some marginal waterstains. pencil stripes in the margins. Hugo Grotius wrote this book in Paris after his escape from Loevestein castle explaining and defending his vision and conduct. Of the Dutch translation ten editions were published in 1622/1623. Of this version a copy was found by Ter Meulen in the library of Vredespaleis. The printer is possibly I.W. van der Beeck from Hoorn.
