Joachim Hoppers was born in Frisia (Sneek 1523 – Madrid 1576). He studied law and philosophy and worked as a professor in Leuven after his promotion. Later on he became advisor to Filips II of Spain, but he never forgot his home country and wrote works in de Frisian language.
