Meijer Warnars, 1831, 15 pages, half cloth library binding, library stamp on titlepage, play depicting Appolo, Mercurius and others, to commemorate the death of Jan Carolus Josephus van Speijk, also written Van Speyk (31 January 1802 – 5 February 1831), who was a Dutch naval lieutenant who became a hero in the Netherlands in 1831 for his opposition to the Belgian Revolution. He allegedly blew up his gunboat with its crew to prevent it being taken by the Belgian revolutionaries.Written by Jacob van Lennep (24 March 1802 – 25 August 1868) who was a Dutch poet and novelist.
