Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 407 x 540 mm., platemark 361 x 444 mm. Made by Pieter van Sompel (ca. 1600-ca. 1643) after Pieter Claesz. Soutman (ca. 1580-1657), with the ornamental border made by Soutman. Originally published by Soutman Soutman in 1644 in the series 'Effigies imperatorvm domvs Avstriacæ', this copy bears the imrpint of Frederik de Wit (Amsterdam), and was published ca. 1660-1680.
In good condition, with nice margins, but with a crease from the lower margin into the middle of the sheet. Also some creasing in the top margin, and two small nicks in the right margin (closed with archival tape).
