Allegorical portrait of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne (1611-1675), a French general and one six Marshals to have been promoted Marshal General of France. Scenes from the life of the portrayed around the portrait, a French descriptive text below.
Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 285 x 416 mm., platemark 227 x 336 mm., engraved by Nicolas Ponce (1746-1831) after Clément-Pierre Marillier (1740-1808), and published in the third volume of 'Les illustres français, ou tableaux historiques des grands hommes de la France' (1790-1816).
In good condition, dampstains in the top left and right corners, not affecting image. A few creases in the lower half of the image area. Left edge uneven, margins a little soiled.
