View of a village with a central river. A man waters his horse in the river. To the left two seated washerwomen and behind them two men stacking piles of logs. A bridge leads to a few buildings on the right.
Etching on wove paper, by an anonymous etcher in the manner of (or after) Matthaüs Merian (I). From 'Spiegel der natuur en school der teekenkunde', Amsterdam: J.S. van Esveldt-Holtrop, [ca. 1807-1833]. Sheet size 134 x 92 mm., platemark 114 x 80 mm.
