Leeuwarden, Hendrik Rintjes, 1674, 4to., full parchment binding with ribbed spine, beautiful and intact hand sewn endbands, handwritten title on spine, blind tooled floral decoration on the front and back, red sprinkled edges, [10]+780+[40] pp. The book is in good condition with a solid construction and clear printwork. The binding has some stains. The titlepage is somewhat smudged along the edges and the printer's mark has a hole. There is an ex libris print on the inside of the front cover: Ex libris Hermann & Marta van Ham, Consilio et Amore. A handwritten ownership note on the flyleaf has been boldly crossed out in black ink. There is a printer's mark on the titlepage (‘Op hoope’) and there are some lovely woodcut initials and endpieces. The book has three parts, each part divided in chapters (boeken). Part one has ten chapters, part two has six chapters, part three has eight chapter. To conclude there is an extensive index.
According to STCN this book was published in three different places in the same year: In Amsterdam, for J. Rieuwertsz, in Harlingen by H. Galama, and this edition in Leeuwarden by H. Rintjes.
