Amsterdam, Joost Hartgers, 1651, 12mo., full parchment spitsel binding (in Dutch: spitselband) with yapp edges and handsewn headbands, faded handwritten title on spine, 714+[36] pp., the parchment has some stains, the spitsels in the front are broken, disconnecting the bookblock from the binding on that side and exposing the spine of the book block, thus offering us a view of how the book was constructed. In the back, the spitsels are intact. The sewing of is intact and the book block still very solid and clean.
As the title states: the book is illustrated with portraits of all Governeurs of the Low Countries and the Ambassadeurs who were present when negotiating the Munster agreement (Vrede van Munster) in 1648, full page engravings. There is also an engraved titlepage, a portrait of the author and two inserted engravings on a separate folded leaves (fo. 13: ‘Request der Edelen tegen d'Inquisitie’, fo. 709 ‘Vreede in onse Dagen’).
There is an ownership signature in ink on the titlepage (difficult to make out the name).
