Bust-length portrait of Pope Agapetus I (?-536), the 59th pope. Around the portrait are allegorical images.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 308 x 198 mm., platemark 281 x 184 mm. Engraved by Frederik Bouttats (Antwerp, 1621-1676), for Cornelius Hazart's publication 'Triomph der Pausen van Roomen over alle hare Benyders ende Bestryders …' (Antwerp: Michiel Knobbaert, 1678).
In good condition, minimal paper loss in the top right corner, with light loss of image area. Some general creasing and discolouration in the margins.
