Engraving of Johan Gosewijn Eberhard Alstein. Johan Alstein was a reformed preacher. Whose father had also been a minister of the Reformed Church, he first served as a pastor in Brandenburg. In the year 1719, he was called to Amsterdam to succeed C. Streso, and he held that position until his death on May 25, 1740, leaving behind his widow, Henrietta Charlotta Pheiffer.
