The first edition of travel writer and Roman Catholic priest John Chetwode Eustace's (1761-1815) letter, written in June 1814 on a visit to Paris in the company of lords Carrington and Essex, depicting the effect on Parisian society of war and 'revolutionary madness'. The letter was addressed to George Petre, nephew of the tenth Lord Petre, the first Roman Catholic to attend the Cambridge since the Reformation to whom Eustace served as tutor-companion. It was reprinted eight times in its year of publication. Size: 8vo.
