Jacob Appel (born 29 November 1680 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter. He trained under landscape painter Timotheus de Graef and later David van der Plaes. By the age of eighteen he was already an accomplished landscape artist. Appel worked in Haarlem, The Hague, Zaandam, and Amsterdam, producing landscapes, portraits, and history paintings. His landscapes were especially sought after. He enjoyed professional success throughout his life and died on 7 May.
