's Gravenhage, Johan Veely ende Jasper Doll, [1678], 4to., full parchment spitsel binding with handwritten title on spine and sprinkled edges, [14]+120+[4]+833+[5] pp. The book is in good condition with only some damage to the head of the spine and a tear in the fold out engraving depicting a map of Holland. The book feels solid and has clean mostly clean pages (some pages in the beginning of the book show browing), some small damages a torn corner and a small tear here and there. With an engraved titlepage (with some handcolouring in red, yellow and blue) dated to 1667 though this date is covered with a strip of paper to state the names of the booksellers: Joan Vely and Jasper Doll. The second titlepage, to introduce a new section, does show the date. There are 3 fold out engravings (two depicting a map of Holland, one depicting the scene of signing the peace document at Munster (J. de Decker, Vrede van Munster) and 51 engraved portraits of various counts and countesses. There are also beautiful woodcut endpieces between the differtent sections. With a signature on the front endpaper: Van der Meersch.
