Second, slightly abridged edition in 12°. Kaempfer (a German physician and botanical scientist), was a medical officer to the Dutch factory on Deshima. He was one of the (very) few persons that were allowed to travel through Japan when this was forbidden to other Europeans. His interestting and excellent illustrated work has long been recognized as the most authorative report on Japan. B0586.
