Portrait of Jean Francois le Petit (1546-1614?) historian of Holland and Zeeland, notary at Middelburg. Plate used as frontispiece for ‘La grande chronique ancienne et moderne, the Hollande, Zelande, Westfrise, Utrecht, Friesland, Overyssel & Groeningen, jusque a la fin de l’an 1600’ Dordrecht, Jacob Canin, 1601. Inscribed above: ‘AET 56 / ANAG. / Jaten ci la fin / et repos. / PETIT A PETIT’, signed on the bottom right: ‘Christof: van Sichem sculp.’; on the front edge of the book: ‘Cro. de Hol. et Zee’.
