The village of Zwammerdam on fire and the citizens being slaughtered by the French between 28th and 30th December 1672. On a drapery in the sky, held by by two allegorical figures:’Spiegel der / FRANCE TIRANNYE / gepleecht opde Hollantsche Dorpen’. Signed on the bottom right, within decorative frame: ‘Romeyn de Hooghe fec. 1673’. The print was reproduced in 1674, in T. van Domselaar ‘Het ontroerde Nederlandt’. From the collection L.A. de Vries
