Good condition, complete. Full leather, 17th century, with decorated spine, with title and 6 ribs. Red spotted decoration on the cuts. One joint is partly cracked. (20)+670 p., illustrated with several woodcuts. A richly illustrated Italian incunable, written by the Augustinian hermit Jacobus Philippus, with many city illustrations. The work begins with the creation of the world and summarizes the most important historical facts until the 15th century. Copy from the famous library of Antwerp cartographer Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598) with his name in handwriting at the bottom of the title page. Some 16th century annotations in the margins, in the same ink colour and handwriting as the owner’s mark of Ortelius on the title page. Some of these annotations are partly cut off, so we can determine that the book was rebound and cut after the annotations. It is cut off quite short.
