Joan Bernard Auffmorth (1744-1831) was a Dutch politician of German origin who played an active role during the Batavian Revolution and the early years of the Batavian Republic. Trained as a lawyer, he served as mayor of Goor and supported the Patriot movement, which sought political reform in the Netherlands. In 1796 he was elected to the first Batavian National Assembly and later became its president for a short period. After the political upheavals of the late eighteenth century, he continued his public career in several administrative and judicial positions, including as magistrate and district official in Overijssel. He remained an influential local administrator until his death in Goor in 1831.
