Count Anton Alexander von Auersperg (1806-1876), better known by his pen name Anastasius Grün, was an Austrian poet, translator, and liberal politician from Carniola (present-day Slovenia). He became famous for his politically engaged poetry, which criticized the conservative policies of the Austrian Empire and promoted liberal reforms. Besides his literary work, he played an active role in politics, serving in the Frankfurt Parliament in 1848 and later in the Austrian upper house. Grün was also an important cultural mediator, translating Slovene folk songs and helping to introduce Slovene literature to a German-speaking audience. Today, he is remembered as one of the leading liberal literary figures of 19th-century Austria.
