Veen, Amsterdam, [1905], 21×16 cm, hardcover, white linen with gold lettering and an art print in blalck and white on the front cover, 239 pp., just volume one (of three), considerable foxing but otherwise in good condition. With four more art prints inside, all depicting classic Roman statues.
Volume 1 and 2 were first published in 1905, volume 3 in 1906. According to letters from that time between Couperus and the publisher, Couperus was not happy with the cover design for this book. Lit: Van Vliet (2000), 237-241 pp.
