Caption: 'Spondeo divitius pauper […] verba dedissi'
Etching and engraving on laid paper, sheet size 317 x 375 mm., platemark 314 x 373 mm. Made by Cornelis Visscher after his own design, and published by Clement de Jonghe in Amsterdam, ca. 1650.
A Roma mother feeds her newborn in a hilly forest landscape. A second child on her back is crying, while the third child stands beside her with a pot and spoon. Three other figures and a dog to the left, a dense forest to the right.
In very good condition, cropped close to the platemark. Slight browning in the corners, but the image clean and fresh.
