Portrait of Louis Philippe II (Louis Philippe Joseph; 1747-1793), a French noble who supported the French Revolution. Below the portrait in medaillon, a frieze with a violent confrontation of citizens attacking the coach of Louis Philippe II for saluting the statue of Henry IV.
Etching (frieze) and aquatint (portrait) on wove paper, sheet size 282 x 433 mm., aquatint by Charles Levachez (active 1760-1820), etching by Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (1750-1818) after his own design, 1798.
An interesting sheet, mixing two graphic techniques for very different effects. In very good condition, although cropped within platemark on all sides.
