Beschrijving
Centrally, a path winds through the landscape, on which travellers on foot and on horseback are struggling with the wind. A city in the far background.
Etching on laid paper, made by Adriaen Fransz. Boudewijns after Adam Fransz. van der Meulen (1632-1690), c. 1670. Sheet size 384 x 254 mm.
Adriaan Frans Boudewijns (Bauduins, or Baudouin, 1644-1719) was a Flemish landscape painter. Boudewijns devoted a lot of his time to engraving, besides painting. Most of his etchings are after the pictures or designs of Van der Meulen, and are etched in a bold, free style. Adam Frans van der Meulen (1632-1690) was a Flemish painter who specialised in landscapes and battle scenes.
In good condition, cropped to or over the platemark in the top and lower edges. Some small stains in the right edge, otherwise a very nice deep impression.
