Antverpiae, Hieronymum Verdyssium, 1640, (20)+284+(24)pp. interleafed, some waterstaining to the first couple of pages, titlepage with woodcut vignette, names in ink on titlepage ‘M. Kroonenbraak (-brook?) 41/2 solidis Ao 1713’ and ‘[name illegible], emptio colonior 1668’, contemporary vellum binding, minor damage to bottom part of spine and halfway, title in ink on spine, some soiling to binding, otherwise very good and sound copy. Zype was a canon lawyer and church official attached to the Bishop of Antwerp. First published in 1635, this useful and summary of the law of the Spanish Netherlands went through at least four more editions and issues into the eighteenth century. Topics include procedure and the law concerning commerce, marriage, the military and other topics. All editions are scarce.
