Portrait of Jean-Louis de Gouttes (1739-1794), a cleric and a French statesman of the Revolution. He was curé of a parish near Bordeaux, and then of Argilliers.
Aquatint portrait in etched decorative border, on hand laid paper, sheet size 231 x 169 mm., anonymous aquatint, published in the series 'Collection générale des Portraits de MM. les Députés à l'Assemblée Nationale Constituante, tenue à Versailles le 4. Mai 1789'. This series was published by Nicolas-François Le Vachez in 1789.
In very good condition, cropped within platemark. Some light foxing in the left margin, and left edge of the image area (not affecting the portrait medaillon). Right edge faintly soiled.
