Bust-length portrait of Pope Sergius I (c. 650-701), the 86th pope. Around the portrait are allegorical images and river gods.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 311 x 198 mm., platemark 282 x 184 mm. Engraved by Frederik Bouttats (Antwerp, 1621-1676), for Cornelius Hazart's publication 'Triomph der Pausen van Roomen over alle hare Benyders ende Bestryders …' (Antwerp: Michiel Knobbaert, 1678).
In good condition, minimal paper loss in the lower right corner, with very slight loss of the caption area. Some general creasing and discolouration in the margins.
