Bust-length portrait of Saint Peter the Apostle, seen as the first Bishop of Rome (1 BC-65 AD). He is holding keys and an open book. Christian religious imagery around the portrait.
Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 311 x 198 mm., platemark 282 x 188 mm. Engraved by Frederik Bouttats (Antwerp, 1621-1676), for Cornelius Hazart's publication 'Triomph der Pausen van Roomen over alle hare Benyders ende Bestryders …' (Antwerp: Michiel Knobbaert, 1678).
In good condition. Some general creasing and soiling/discolouration in the margins.
