Engraving of Johannes Ambrosius. Johannes Ambrosius (c. 1546-1599) was a Dutch minister and the father of Lucas Ambrosius, also a Dutch minister. Originally a pastor in Sybecarspel, he converted to Protestantism and became a respected Reformed preacher. He was known as a ‘redelyck’ (decent or respectable) man in life and died in 1599. He laid the foundation for his son's ecclesiastical career.
