Amsterdam, Jan Jacobsz Schipper, 1655, 8vo., full parchment spitsel binding with blind tooled decorations on the front and back, red and blue/green sprinkled edges, handwritten title on spine, original headbands intact, [24]+247+113+[11]+87+[4]+92+32+229 pp. The book is in very good condition, the construction is solid and intact, the pages clean, there are some dotted stains on the endpapers and the endpapers have come loose from the inside of the cover.
Bound with some other texts by Cats besides the ones mentioned on the first titlepage (each with their own pagenumbers, some with separate titlepages): ‘Mengelingen’, ‘Invallende gedachten op voorvallende gelegentheden (1656)’, ‘Koningklyke herderin Aspasia Bly-eyndig-spel (1656)’, ‘Afbeeldinge van 't huwelyck en 't gene daer ontrent is onder de gedaente van een fuyck’, ‘Doot-kiste voor de levendige of sinne-beelden uyt Godes Woordt’.
