Joseph Arné was a French soldier and former carpenter who became known during the French Revolution for being among the first to enter the Bastille during its storming on July 14, 1789. His actions made him a popular revolutionary hero in France, and he later continued serving in the French revolutionary army before reportedly dying in Saint-Domingue around 1802.
