This print originates from ‘Guillaume Baudart, Les guerres de Nassau (…), Amsterdam, Michiel Colijn, 1616. With pictures and descriptions of battles and sieges which occurred during the war against the King of Spain. Some of the images are made after plates by Frans Hogenberg (1538-1590).

Copperplate etching/engraving of the siege of Groll, now known as Groenlo in the Dutch province of Gelderland, by Prince Maurits in 1595. In the front the general Mondragon is portrayed. (plate 222). With explanatory caption surrounding the print. ca. 1616. Overall size: 17 x 23 cm; plate size: 13,4 x 16 cm. Good state. Some age related discolouration. Handlaid paper. Printed text on the verso of the print.
