Angouleme, Editions Marguerite Waknine, 2025, 58pp. and 34 plates, original softcover binding. Modern reproduction of the original scarce Carnets de voyage written by Maurice Denis (25 November 1870 – 13 November 1943) who was a French painter, decorative artist, and writer. An important figure in the changing world of late 19th-century European art, Denis is associated with Les Nabis, Symbolism, and later Neo-classicism. His theories contributed to the foundations of Cubism, Fauvism, and abstraction. After World War I, Denis founded the Ateliers d'Art Sacré (Workshops of Sacred Art), decorated the interiors of churches, and worked for a revival of religious art. Denis published this in 1925 in only 175 copies. (Paris, Jacques Beltrand, 1925).
